Sunshine || Print
medium: acrylic paint
“Sunshine” was painted in the sunshine of the day. I had just quit my job and had set my eyes on joy which was creating and being in solitude and loving myself truly- external and eternally. I saw myself as a light desperate for kindling and the only person who could fulfill that was me and the God- which is light - in me. She started it all and I have never shined brighter. I brought in shades of mustard yellow, rich reds and textured brown and experimented with the feel I wanted the paint to reveal which was luxury, softness like the dress and afro, boldness and nakedness which was tastefully alluded to with the colors and bodily reveal. I grew as a woman this year and it was because I chose to paint my life like I painted “Sunshine”.
